Fire mishap; 6 fire personnel hurt in Maddur

Six fire personnel who were extinshing the fire suffered injuries when the boiler exploded. They have been identified as Rajesh, Shivalingaiah and Jayaram and they are being treated in a local hospital.

The factory belongs to Hyderabad-based businessman Koti Reddy who has been manufacturing of turpentine and stainers.

The three-storeyed building worth crores of rupees too has been gutted in the mishap. All machinery inside the factory are said to be damaged including raw materials.  Deputy Commissioner C K Jaffer and SP Koushalendra Kumar visited the spot.

MLA Kalpana Siddaraju, B Ramakrishna visited the spot on Monday.  Ramakrishna said that the factory has not yet received permission from Pollution Control Board. Safety measures have not been followed in the factory due to negligence of officials concerned. It is the responsibility of the officials to see that such an incident do not recur.

Former MLA D C Thammanna visited the spot. He said the factory was running in a good condition, but negligent in following safety measures led to the fire, he noted.

Factory owner Manjunath Reddy, TP member Ravichannasandra, leaders N R Dayakar, K Shekar and others were present.
