Navratri celebrations in the City

Vivid expressions

Sri Padmavathi Kala Nikethan is organising 30th Navratri Cultural Festival till October 16 at 6.30 pm every day. The venue is Sri Padmavathi Kala Nikethan, No 161/B, 2nd cross, behind SBM, Mathikere Layout.

On October 15, there will be Bharatanatyam dance recitals by artistes of Sri Padmavathi Kala Nikethan and on October 16, Amba-Vandanam Geethamalika will be presented by students of Sri Padmavathi Kala Nikethan.

There will also be Carnatic music by Abhayarangan and Varidhi. Mahamangalarathi will be held on October 17.

‘Dhaatu Mahotsava’

As part of the Dhaatu Navratra Mahotsava 2010, on October 15, 6 pm, a Bharatanatyam recital will be presented by Chithkala School of Dance. On October 16, yet another Bharatanatyam recital by Prakruti Hoskere will be held. On October 17, watch Vijaya Nagara Vaibhava, a string puppet extravaganza by Dhaatu.

Still theatre

Like every year, this Navratri, you can enjoy the festivities at Rasalok Still Theatre of Miniature Art. Through the day, live narrations of a defining moment-in-time will captivate all ages and walks of life.

The festivities will be held against the backdrop of an antique building in an artistic ambience till October 17. On weekends after Navratri, the celebrations will be held every Saturday till Deepavali at 5 pm and 7 pm.

The timing is 11.15 am, 12.30 pm, 3.30 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm. The venue is Bimba Art Ashram, 42, Ratna Vilas Road, DVG Road Corner, Basavanagudi. For details, call 41489354.

Festive treat

The Navratri Music and Dance Festival will be held till October 16 at Sri Vani Education Centre, Ramavana, No 1246, 4th Main, ‘E’ block, Rajajinagar.

On October 15, a Carnatic vocal recital by Kalavathi Avadhooth will be conducted.  On October 16, Bharathanjali Samooha Nritya will be presented by disciples of Guru Bhanumathi. These events will be held at 6.45 pm. On the occasion of Dasara, a doll show will also be arranged.

Special programmes will be performed by school children till October 16 between 6 pm and 6.40 pm. For details, call 23322239.

‘Durga Puja’

Durga Puja celebrations will be held at CMH Road, Indiranagar by Tripura Mondoli. They will be celebrating the Puja for Asthami, Navami and Dashami till October 17.

There will be cultural events during the celebrations. Mornings will see pushpanjali, competition and games for children.
