28-year-old Prince William, the second-in-line to the British throne, is to marry his longtime companion Kate Middleton in 2011, according to a statement yesterday. "I think we'll take it one step at a time. We'll sort of get over the marriage first and then maybe look at the kids. But obviously we want a family so we'll have to start thinking about that," Prince William said in an interview with ITV News.
Seated side by side in their first interview together after the announcement, the couple said they are hugely excited and looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together.
Answering a question on her close-knit family, Kate, 28, said, "Yes. It's very important to me. And I hope we will be able to have a happy family ourselves. They've been great over the years - helping me with difficult times. They are very, very dear to me."
