The show got a further reprieve on Monday after the high court adjourned till December 3 hearing on the channel’s appeal against the ministry’s order for shiting the show to 11 pm time slot.

The matter came up before a Division Bench of Justices D K Deshmukh and N D Deshpande. The Bench said the stay on the Central government order would continue till the next hearing.

The show is currently telecast on Colors channel at 9 pm. While staying the order, the Bench had said last Thursday that the Central government should have issued a show-cause notice to the channel before directing it to reschedule its programme telecast timings.

The directive was meant for two channels – Colors and NDTV Imagine – to change timings of their two reality shows “Bigg Boss” and “Rakhi Ka Insaaf”, respectively, to late night slots between 11 pm and 5 am following complaints of vulgarity.

“Both shows are not for universal viewing and can be aired only in the scheduled time slot,” said the I&B ministry.

The decisions were reportedly taken at an inter-ministerial meeting represented by Additional Secretaries from the Ministry of Home, Women and Child Development, External Affairs and Information and Broadcasting.

Colors, which moved the high court, said: “No date has been mentioned as to when the show was against good taste and decency.”

The channel also said that its content cannot be described as obscene.
“The show has been on for one and a half months, what is the urgency suddenly?” asked Colors in its petition.
