` 1.61 cr for Wenlock, Lady Goschen hospitals

Uninterrupted oxygen supply for operation theatres and ICUs

Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav, who chaired the meet, discussed with the officials about various development work to be taken up at the Wenlock and Lady Goschen Hospitals and approved various development work proposals to be taken up in two government hospitals at an estimated cost of Rs 1,61,22,000.

A total of Rs 1,30,32,000 will be reserved for various development work to be taken up at Wenlock hospital. The EPABX system of the BSNL in the hospital will be upgraded for the convenience of the patients and their relatives.

All wards in the hospital will be provided with phone connections at an estimated cost of Rs 90,000. A liquid medical oxygen pant will be set up to provided uninterrupted supply of oxygen to the ICU, cardiac ICU, operation theatres and to the Regional Advanced Pediatric Care Centre of the Wenlock Hospital. The Indian Overseas Bank management has promised to donate Rs five lakh for the installation of copper pipes for the purpose.

It has been decided in the meet to invite tenders for the supply of 300 bedside lockers and 200 cots for the the hospital. An endoscopy unit will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh and an audiometry machine worth Rs 4.5 lakh will be purchased for the hospital. The Committee decided to purchase an operating microscope worth Rs seven lakh for the orthopedic department.

The meet approved the proposal of laying vitrified tiles on the floors and to fix glaced tiles on the walls of the wards in the hospital. The first floor of the hospital will be converted into a full-fledged operation theatre unit and the work will be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh.

The Committee has approved development work worth Rs 30,90,000 to be taken up at the Lady Goschen Hospital.

The DC directed the officials to take initiatives to beautify the hospitals with the help of KMC Hospital. District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr O R Shrirangappa, Assistant Drug Controller R S Shaha, Mangalore City Corporation Health Officer Dr A M Shetty and PWD Assistant Executive Engineer C B Navalagunda participated in the discussion.
