Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), a pro-kannada outfit, on Tuesday launched a "silent protest" against the arrest of their leader Praveen Shetty who along with some other activists was taken into custody on Sunday last for disrupting Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) examinations here, police said.
"About 70 KRV activists took part in the protest in front of Basaveshwar circle near Vidhana Soudha. They later submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Dr V S Acharya", police said.
On July 5, KRV activists led by Praveen Shetty barged into Kamalabai school where the Railway test as well as exams for recruitment by Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) were going on, alleging "step-motherly" treatment for Kannadigas in jobs.
