The hill station located just 65 km from Bangalore draws people in droves for the New Year’s eve. Superintendent of Police Dr T D Pawar told reporters on Thursday that the ban has been imposed to prevent accidents as people drive to the hill station, inebriated.
Public entry is restricted except to those who have rooms booked in guest houses for the night of December 31. They should reach the Hills by 6 pm on December 31.

Nandi Hills is an abode of migratory birds during the months of December and January. Loud music and noise that accompanies New Year revelry disturb the birds. The fog that envelopes the Hills during the night poses grave danger to travellers, DySP Duggappa said.
Nandi Hills is a popular place for New Year revelry. Nandidurg is an ancient hill fortress of southern India, in the Chikkaballapur district, located just 10 km from Chikkaballapur town. The Hills are nestled between the neighbouring towns of Nandi, Muddenahalli and Kaniverayanapura.
