Mumbai Police's advisory appalling: Mehbooba

"The indiscriminate scanning of people from Kashmir is an assault on our dignity. It is appalling state governments are now issuing blanket advisories against the Kashmiris," PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said in a statement here.

"Suspecting Kashmiris has now assumed the dimension of paranoia," she said.

"It is indeed painful the Maharashtra government, led by the Congress, has issued instructions to police to keep all Kashmiris in the state under watch following an alert by the Jammu and Kashmir Police," the PDP head said.

"It is a direct result of the state (Omar) government painting the entire population of Kashmir black and branding them as terrorists and stone-pelters," she said.

The JK government "has pushed Kashmiri youths to wall by unleashing state terror", Mehbooba alleged.

The Mumbai Police have issued an advisory to various police stations asking them to keep a watch on people from the state, especially drivers.

The advisory, circulated among police stations of the megapolis, was issued after the arrest of two Kashmiris in November last year based on a specific intelligence input provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
