The youths came to Surya Jewellers in the guise of customers and asked Tararam, the proprietor of the shop to show them some jewellery samples.
Even as Tararam was entering another room in his shop to bring some samples, the three hooked him with a rope and threatened to kill him if he raised an alarm.
They later decamped with the valuables in the shop.
Police said the miscreants, all in the 22-25 year age group spoke Hindi and had come to the shop on two days earlier.
