According to the police, the prime suspect Narayanswamy, a practising advocate, frequently visited KIADB office situated at Thimmaiah Building in Gandhinagar in connection with a case.

On Tuesday night, he hatched a plan with Dere Gowda to steal some files related to the case. As planned, he opened the lock of the office with a duplicate key, went inside and started searching for the files, while Gowda stood outside to alert Narayanswamy if someone came.

Gowda had locked the door from outside and was carrying the key with him. Their luck ran out when the building security guard noticed Gowda standing suspiciously.

He managed to catch him and handed him over to the police. After collecting details from Gowda, police rushed to the building, opened the office door and arrested Narayanswamy.
