Pop princess Britney Spears has received death threats from Russia, where she is to perform two shows in the coming week.

The 'Toxic' hitmaker is so scared that she has decided not to take her two young children with her to the country and will keep a private plane on stand-by so that she can leave immediately after the concerts, reported Sun online.

"Originally, both boys were to accompany Britney but she was against taking them because of these constant threats," a tour spokesman said.

Spears have been receiving constant threats via email from an unknown source and has put in special security measures for the Russian leg of her 'Circus' tour.

The 27-year-old is scheduled to perform two concerts in St Petersburg and Moscow next week but she will base herself in Finland and fly in for the shows.

After the Moscow gig, she will fly straight to London to be reunited with sons Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2.
