Upparas red over attempt to deflate their movement

Last Updated 14 April 2011, 16:00 IST

Addressing media here on Thursday, legal advisor to the sangha S Arunkumar alleged that instead of arriving on a consensus over the ownership of the said property, the authorities concerned are leaving no stone unturned to keep the dispute alive.

Having an unholy nexus with the TTL Trust that has made the property its own in a dubious way, the city police are making all efforts to deflate the struggle.

It is evident with the police making preparations to file a chargesheet related to the case filed against 41 leaders of the community.

The allegations against the leaders here are that they damaged the public property when the police resorted to caning after the protest launched by the sangha on the same issue, turned violent in May last.

The irony  here is the then District In-charge Minister S Sureshkumar had sent a missive to the district administration and MUDA to exhort the Home Ministry to withdraw the same case.

General Secretary of the sangha K Somashekar alleged that Backward Classes and Minorities Officer Mayadevi Galagali appointed as receiver for both TTL Trust and Uppara Students Hostel, and special officer named Mahesh are turning a deaf ear to the grievances.

Recently, the Trust had begun special classes to coach job aspirants collecting a hefty amount as fee.

When the sangha raised objection and brought it to the notice of the special officer, he was not ready to accept that the classes are being conducted for the first time.

For the worse, the same officer misguided none other than the deputy commissioner saying that the sangha is planning a huge protest.
