Clad in green T-shirts, young boys and girls carrying placards participated in a walkathon attracting the attention of passers-by with placards carrying messages such as ‘Our attitude towards nature determines natures attitude towards us’ and ‘Greenery sustains life. Every young plant counts. Let’s save it.’

The walkathon was flagged off by Vidyavardhaka Sangha Secretary P Vishwanath at the college premises and passed through Trinetra Circle, Aditya Hospital, Nirmala Convent, V V Puram Police Station, Mathrumandali Circle, Kalidasa Road and culminating at the start point. More than 200 students participated in the event. Sangha President Gundappa Gowda, Treasurer Venkatchalaiah, Principal B Sadashive Gowda and Environmental Department Head, Dr H S Dayananda were also present during the flag off.

It was followed by plant and flower exhibition organised by the Horticulture Department, with more than 40 varieties being displayed.

Stressing on the need to conserve water, the department organised a photohunt competition, with photographers required to search for places in the city, wherein water was being wasted- the theme.  The photographers were given three hours time to click the pictures. The winners would be announced on April 25, said student co-ordinator Srivatsa. Adding meaning to the event was installation of dustbins on the college premises.
