Right back Surkumar Singh gave India the lead in the 24th minute with a thunderous long ranger before Alberto Marcos Ramos drew parity via a spot kick in the 56th minute.

Houghton experimented different combinations by substituting nine players of the starting line-up after the breather except for Manju and goalkeeper Subrata Pal. Manju was also later replaced deep into the second session.

Houghton used as many as 21 players out of the 27 he brought to Barcelona. Moirangthem Govin Singh, Jagpreet Singh and two goalkeepers -- Arindam Bhattacharya and Subhashish Roy Chowdhury -- did not play while Sunil Chhetri and Samir Naik were rested.

In the absence of Chhetri, captain Bhaichung Bhutia and young Sushil Kumar combined upfront.
