Nearly 200 companies, including, Google, Yahoo, Akamai and other major internet companies have kept a 24 hour window to test their IPV 6 servers.
Veri Sign –owners of the .com domain— has been testing servers in India, while search giant Google has been running an exclusive website on IPV6.
Transition from IPV4 to IPV 6 has been thought to be crucial for the internet’s scalability. The day has been marked primarily to give a push towards the switch to IPV6,” Senior Vice President for Engineering, Asia Pacific for Akamai, Harald Prokop, said.
