In a habeas corpus petition by Noorajahan, a resident of Mandimohalla, Mysore has said that the police have arrested some of the members of the People’s Front of India (PFI) on July 9, 2009.

The members had planned a jail bharo programme and were on their way to the Press Club in Mysore, when the police lathi charged the members and arrested them citing Section 144.
He further said that all those 160 persons, who were arrested for disrupting peace and harmony were taken to Belgaum jail, after being produced before the tahsildhar. The police has refused to release them even after bail was granted for some of them. It is illegal to detain persons even after bail being granted. Thus, those held should be produced before the Court, the petitioner alleged.
