Elephant gives birth

  The staff at the national park were delighted. Suvarna, who was heading towards the forest gave birth on Sunday night.

The staff, who had gone to the forest on Monday morning to get the herd back to the park saw the newborn. Soon the doctors and mahouts arrived at the spot. For ten long days Suvarna will be given hot water bath and nutritious food comprising urad, green gram, cowpeas, parched rice and coconut, said Dr Chettyappa of the Bannerghatta National Park.
