Speaking to the media persons on Monday, he said the MLA has been saying that he has brought Rs 60 crore grant for the development of Chikmagalur city. Let the MLA prove his announcement, by providing detailed information about the developmental work in the city, he challenged.

“All the misappropriations that have taken place in the City Municipal Corporation should be handed over to the Lokayukta for further investigation. If one moves around the city, it is visible that 70 percent of the fund has been misused. So far the District-in-Charge Minister has not called for the district-level officials’ meeting to discuss about the loss incurred due to heavy rain and the amount of compensation to be sought. If the district administration fails to submit the report to the government within a week, a strong protest will be staged,” warned the leader.

He criticised the MLA for failing to draw the attention of the Chief Minister towards the burning problems of the taluk. It appears as if the MLA is more worried about securing a cabinet post, rather than the development of the taluk. The Chief Minister has failed to solve the problems concerning irrigation, Kadur-Mangalore road, yellow leaf disease, problems faced by coconut growers, said Devaraj.

He also urged the government to blacklist the contractors who have undertaken poor quality work. The growers in Malnad are put to trouble due to heavy rain. He also urged the government to announce Kadur taluk, Tarikere and few hoblis of Chikmagalur taluk as drought prone areas.
