Negligence shocks SC Commission member

He took the school principal to task for the negligence meted out to the students in providing them food and it is difficult for the students to pursue their education at such precarious conditions. The inspection did not stop with that and he even attempted to taste ‘puliyogare’ that was prepared for breakfast and was unsatisfactory. Shivanna warned of even testing the mid-day meals that is provided for the students there.
Meanwhile, some parents complained against the principal and lack of basic amenities like clean toilets, good quality food and breakfast and some students even demanded transfer of the principal.

Later, addressing the media, Shivanna said that he had conducted the raid upon receiving several complaints through fax message sent by the students and parents. He would hold discussions to get their opinions and submit a report. He also stressed on using fresh vegetables and good quality products for cooking and stressed to change the agency which supplies them.

He said there is a lack of coordination between the teachers and the principal and this has led to the various problems. He opined that irregularities and negligence are not acceptable at a school run by Centre. The principal and teachers should strive for maintaining the standards of the hostel on par with the education.

National SC Commissioner Bangalore office director Chitra Armugam, deputy director Sheela Narayana, district social welfare officer S Pratibha and others were present.
Principal denies

However, the principal Venkateshwaran has denied the allegations of misappropriation of funds. Scholarship was awarded to 12 students. 11 students out of them have voluntarily agreed to use the amount for the drinking water facilities. The deputy commissioner had assured to construct a shed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh if one lakh is remitted to his account under the district development project.

 A meeting was held in this regard with the parents and amount has been remitted and denied of collecting money in the guise of donation.
