“There are reports that our team members have taken into custody four persons who allegedly executed the murder. The police are bringing them to Bangalore. They will produce them before the court on Wednesday,” confirmed a senior officer of the Ramanagar district police.

The police had constituted three teams which worked at Tirupati and Ramakrishnapur near Adilabad of Andhra Pradesh. Based on clues, the police zeroed in on them and took them into custody. Three of them were allegedly involved in the murder directly. The police are ascertaining the role of the parents of Revathi with whom Sandeep, the priest, was in love. Revathi and her parents are still at large, said an investigating officer.

Regarding the involvement of a few students of Oxford College in HSR Layout, the officer said it was not known yet. It is said that only two of the suspects went inside Sandeep’s house and murdered him. The police are interrogating the suspects to ascertain more details, he added.

Sandeep, 24, priest of Vinayaka temple, Vinayaka Layout, Kengeri Satellite Town, was in love with Revathi for the past three years.

Revathi’s parents opposed the alliance as they belonged to different castes and had warned Sandeep to stay away from her.

Sandeep and Revathi continued to be in love despite the opposition.

Revathi’s brother Preetham and his friend allegedly barged into Sandeep’s house at Jai Bhuvaneshwarinagar at Talaghattapura early Sunday morning and hacked him to death.

Police said the victim was on his way to his friend’s house in Marathalli on Sunday night to attend a birthday party, when he lost control over his two-wheeler near Devarabeesanhalli Ring Road.  He rammed into the road median, fell and sustained severe head injuries.

The night patrolling police shifted him to a nearby private hospital. Parado set out to Marathalli after he received his friend’s call past midnight, the police added.
