Naroda Patiya trial: Judge visits riot-hit areas

 Even as the trial in the post-Godhra riots in Naroda Patiya is set to enter the final stage of arguments, trial Judge Jyotsna Yagnik visited the area to inspect the scene of offence.

Yagnik, who went to the area described in the case papers by the prosecuting agency on Monday, also visited an unused well in which victims allege several bodies have been disposed.

She was shown the routes people took on February 28, 2002 to escape the mob that had attacked the locality.

The post-Godhra violence in Naroda Patiya claimed 95 lives Yagnik was accompanied by Investigating Officer V V Chaudhary, Special Public Prosecutors Akhil Desai and Gaurang Vyas, lawyers for the victims Y B Sheikh and Shamshad Pathan.
