Postal department approaches police to unearth cheating scam

Finding the post office staff involved in using unfair means during departmental promotional examination, Senior Superintendent of Post Office of west division approached the Delhi Police to unearth the cheating scam, police said on Thursday.

After conducting departmental inquiry for more than a year into the use of unfair means by the staff members, Rahul Kaushik, Senior Superintendent of Post Office of west division, found that the employees were involved in cheating and asked police to investigate into the matter.

Kaushik registered an First Iinformation Report at Karol Bagh police station in central Delhi on Tuesday. He asked police to register FIR in the case of using of unfair means by various candidates during the departmental promotional examination for Lower Grade Officials, 2010 held on October 10, 2010 at J V S D Girls Senior Secondary School at D-2 in Jhandewalan Extension.

“The Department of Posts has conducted departmental promotional examination from postman cadre to Postal Assistant cadre.

“During the course of checking in Room No.21 at around 1 pm of Paper-II – Arithmetic -- it was found that Tej Singh having Roll No.DI/11/NDHO/OCT/2010 was using unfair means as the complete solved paper was recovered from him,” Kaushik told police.

He further stated that apart from that, on checking the bags of other candidates, similar type of material were found. “Accordingly, the same was recovered from all the candidates,” said Kaushik.He asked police to conduct thorough interrogation and registration of case against the staff members, who managed to obtain the solved papers before appearing in the said examination.

Kaushik also provided police the list of candidates, their written statement of the candidates and the seized solved papers. 

“We have registered a case under section Section 420 (Cheating and dishonesty) and Section 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences) of Indian Penal Code. 

“We have started investigating into the matter,” said as senior police officer.
