Last Updated 31 August 2009, 19:27 IST

Counting of votes in all the three states will be held on October 22. Announcing the schedule, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Navin Chawla said the process of filing of nominations would be over on September 25. The last date for withdrawal of nominations will be September 29.

While the terms of the current assemblies in Arunachal Pradesh and Maharashtra will end on October 24 and November 3 respectively, the Haryana elections have been advanced consequent upon the dissolution of the Assembly by the Congress government, which wants the polls to be advanced.

Chawla said there would be 82,028 polling stations in Maharashtra, 12,894 in Haryana and 206 in Arunachal Pradesh. The schedule, he said, had been decided after taking into consideration all factors, including public holidays, climatic conditions and the time required for the deployment of forces.

According to the CEC, a total of 7,50,575 voters in Arunachal Pradesh, 1,20,63,257 in Haryana and 7,56,34,525 in Maharashtra are eligible to vote.
