Govt to ban transfer of RTC drivers, conductors on payment

The system of seeking transfers on payment of rupees ten thousand would be discontinued with immediate effect, he told reporters here.
The transport corporation introduced it three years ago to facilitate transfers from one corporation to the other. But it created more problems, he said.
In Hubli Corporation,there are one thousand excess drivers as those working elsewhere managed to get transfers to this division, he said.
The KSRTC will be recruiting four thousand drivers shortly, he said.
A driving training school is coming up at Hassan at a cost of rupees fifteen crore to train the drivers, he said.
The government had deputed an official team to Tamil Nadu to study the quantum of fee fixed for every load.
While Karnataka earned only rupees ten crore from sand transporters, Tamil Nadu revenues are in the range of Rs 130 crore to Rs 150 crore per annum, he said.
