The law and order situation in the Capital is turning bad, according to leader of opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra.

He also pinned the blame for the “deteriorating” condition of Delhi on the home minister on Wednesday.

“Home minister P Chidamabaram is entangled in personal issues. Law and order in Delhi has become his last priority,” said Malhotra.

“As a result, safety in the city has been severely affected and it is becoming unsafe for women,” added Malhotra.

He said seven rapes cases have been reported in the Capital in the last two days in the city of “a woman chief minister”.

Malhotra said while the Delhi government and the home minister are “blowing their own trumpet” by comparing the law and order situation in Delhi with other cities of the world, the rising crime statistics prove otherwise.

He said Delhi will soon become the “crime Capital of the world” if the government fails to take corrective measures immediately.

He asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene and control the situation.
