Eight chain snatchers arrested

In the first case, the five arrested - Sampangi (23), Santosh (23), Ajay (22), Nagesh and Mahesh - used to snatch valuables from the people on the City outskirts and flee on two-wheelers. They were allegedly involved in 17 cases in various parts of the City. Police said, the five are the associates of Reva, an accused in the Kengeri double murder in 2006.  
Syed Khaleel (28) and Noor Mohammed (23) both residents of Gudadahalli and auto drivers used to make away with gold jewellery from single women in isolated places. The duo reportedly committed six thefts in various parts of the City with three in J P Nagar and surrounding areas and three in HSR layout.

Another arrested, Adil Khan (24), a resident of Gudadahalli, along with his associate Ejaz used to rob jewellery from women at Jnanbharathi, Girinagar and other places. With these arrests the CCB has solved about 25 chain snatching cases by recovering one one kilogram gold.

Idol thief held
City Crime Branch sleuths have arresed Mohan alias K G Kurien (22) while he was trying to sell an antique idol. Police said that Mohan found the idol buried in earth at Hiremagalur near Chikmagalur.
Investigation has revealed that the idol dates back to 13th century and fetches over a sum of  Rs 20 lakh in the international market.
