Mahadevapura police have picked up two youths in their early 20s in connection with the murder of Monica Ravi Srivastav, who was found murdered at her residence in Pai Layout, on Wednesday.
The police suspect involvement of a person who was known to the victim and had often frequented her house. According to an officer probing the murder, either jealousy or a love affair could be the reason behind the murder. The police also questioned a few neighbours, classmates and friends of the victim.
A forensic expert stated that evidences indicate involvement of just one person in the crime. The body was lying on a mat with the head facing the ground.
It is not known whether the assailant kept the body on the mat after committing the crime, he added.
Monica’s father had passed a year ago. Her mother rushed to Bangalore on Thursday. The body was handed over after a post mortem.
The victim’s brother, Abhishek, who is pursuing engineering course, also stays in Bangalore.
