The Uttar Pradesh lokayukta Justice (retd)  N K Malhotra has sought details of the companies of Naseemuddin Siddiqui’s son  Afzal Siddiqui from the Registrar of Companies in Kanpur and Delhi.

Afzal, against whom complaints of grabbing land in Amroha are pending, has so far not replied to the lokayukta despite several reminders, official sources said on Tuesday.
Taking the matter into account, Malhotra on Monday asked registrars of both Kanpur and Delhi to provide information regarding his companies AQ Frozen Foods and
Al Nafis Frozen Foods, within 10 days.

The lokayukta can dispose of the case against Afzal after seeking the details of his companies, sources said as his illegal occupation of the land in Amroha has already been substantiated by tehsil and
district authorities. Afzal, who was given time till April 16 to file his reply, did not turn up saying that he was appearing in law examinations.

Earlier, he had not replied on pretext that he was busy with the election campaign
of BSP in Bundelkhand region.

Afzal’s father Naseemuddin is considered close to BSP supremo Mayawati.

Wants more security

The Uttar Pradesh lokayukta has asked the state government to immediately step up the security provided at his office.

In a letter to Principal Secretary (Home) R M Srivastava, lokayukta Justice (retd) N K Malhotra said that at present, there were only five policemen posted in his office which made security arrangements inadequate.

“The present security is not up to the mark and there should be immediate review to enhance it,” the letter said.

He demanded deployment of armed guards and install metal detectors at three entry points to his office.
