Woman resists rape attempt, beaten to death

A 28-yr-old woman was beaten to death by a man in Asuamau village here when she resisted his attempt to rape her, police said today.

Rameshwari Maurya was alone with her two sons last night when the man, identified as Sandeep, broke into her house and tried to rape her, they said.

When she resisted the attempt, he brutally assaulted her and also injured her kids.

While Rameshwari died on the spot, the children were taken to a nearby hospital where their condition was declared stable.

The accused is absconding and the police are on the lookout for him.
