Funds for welfare of minority community

Sufficient funds have been released for the development of minority communities under various programmes of the government for the year 2011-2012.

Implementation of many programmes have already started, said administrative officer of district Wakf advisory committee Makbool Shariff.

Works have already started at the Shivanasamudra mosque and Rs 64.5 lakh has been released. For the compound of burrial ground Rs 9 lakh and Rs one lakh for Kagalavadi mosque have been released.
Bonds for more than 357 beneficiaries under Bhagyalakshmi scheme have been distributed.

Karnataka Minority Welfare Board has released Rs 4.95 lakh under Swawalambane Sala, Rs 11.3 lakh under Shramashakti Sala’, Rs 1.25 lakh for purchase of land, Rs 10.80 lakh under micro loan and Rs 28.3 lakh under Ganga Kalyana, he said.

While Rs 43.60 lakh has been utilised for minority marriage hall and community hall, Rs 9.55 lakh for students’ hostels, Rs 13,50,086 for management of Morarji Desai School and Rs 50,000 for nursing courses. For computer coaching for 150 minority students, Rs 3 lakh is provided. Rs 11.81 lakh is reserved for stipend of 328 students. A students’ hostel would be built at a cost of Rs one crore, he added.

Five minority unemployed youth would be given a loan of Rs 1.80 lakh under Udyogini scheme for self-employment with a subsidy of Rs 36,500.The government has accorded priority for the welfare of minority communities with various programmes like scholarships for students from first to 10th standard, direct loan system and other plans.
