The Leftwing radicals barged into the house of CPM activist Sambhu Mahato at Buribala village on Monday morning and shot him dead from point blank range.
They sprayed bullets into Anath Mahato when he tried to rescue Sambhu. A critically wounded Anath was admitted to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
Earlier, a gang of seven armed Maoists entered Belatikri primary school and gunned down Kartik Mahato, a school teacher. Kartik was also an active CPM member, said the police.
