The Congress on Thursday dropped  Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was embroiled in sex CD controversy, from the list of leaders empanelled by it to participate in discussions on TV channels.

The new list was issued to TV channels a day after Singhvi spoke to electronic media on behalf of the party.

Singhvi, a well-known lawyer, had resigned last month as party spokesperson and Chairman of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances and Law and Justice after a sex video allegedly involving him went viral on social media sites. Congress General Secretary and chairperson of party’s media department Janardan Dwivedi had then described Singhvi’s resignation as a “right step”.

However, his name was not removed then from the 19-member committee of party leaders authorised to participate in discussions on news channels.

Along with the new list of party leaders for interactions in TV channels, Singhvi’s name has also been removed from the list of spokespersons on party website and media department board at party headquarter here.

The new list of Congress panelists for TV interactions has several union ministers, party spokespersons and MPs.

The list has names of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni, Pawan Kumar Bansal, CP Joshi, Jairam Ramesh, Rajiv Shukla, Ashwini Kumar, Jayanthi Natarajan (all union ministers), Girija Vyas, Rashid Alvi, Renuka Chowdhary, Manish Tewari (spokespersons) and party leaders Mohan Prakash, P C Chacko, Shakeel Ahmed, Raj Babbar, Sanjay Nirupam and Satyavrat Chaturvedi.
