Delay rain worries Tarikere farmers

The farmers in Tarikere taluk are worried over delay in the arrival of monsoon in Tarikere taluk. The farmers have not yet started agriculture activities and are eagerly waiting for the first shower.

The taluk had received 217 mm rainfall during April. However, later the region did not receive rainfall.

Though the Agriculture Department had supplied six Raita Samparka Kendras in the taluk with maize, groundnut seeds, fertilisers and farm equipment, farmers have not yet purchased them. The seeds reamained untouched as the farmers have not yet purchased it. About 80 to 90 quintals of seeds are ready for distributing among the farmer. The kendra has enough quantity of fertilisers.
