Suvarna Bhoomi: Selection begins on Thursday

Lottery process to be used to select 11,136 beneficiaries in Hassan district

The beneficiaries  for Suvarna Bhoomi under department of agriculture for the year 2012-13 will be selected on July 12.

The department has decided to select the beneficiaries through lottery method on July 12. 

Joint director A Shivaraj said that as number of applications received are more than anticipated, lottery process has been identified to select the farmers, belonging to scheduled caste and general category.

In all, the department has to identify 11,136 beneficiaries. But the number of applications received under scheduled tribe is less.

Hence, all the 594 applications received has been considered for allocation. There is an opportunity to select 1,808 beneficiaries under scheduled caste, whereas the department has received 3,721 applications.

Apart from Alur and Sakleshpur taluks, there  has been good response from the farmers from Arakalgud, Arsikere, Belur, Hassan, Channarayapatna and Holenarasipur  taluks.

Shivaraj in a press release has stated that under general category 8,600 applications has to be selected out of  40,190 received.

Apart from Sakleshpur taluk lottery method will be followed in all the taluks.

One nodal officer and three assistant nodal officers have been appointed for each taluk. They have been directed to conduct lottery process in an unbiased manner.

Tahsildar will be totally in-charge of the process in the taluks.

Superintendent of police has been appealed to take suitable measures for the smooth conduct of the lottery process.

Publicity has been done on the lottery process in all taluk and hoblis of the district, said the joint director.
