Three peacocks poisoned, culprits flee

Miscreants have allegedly hunted down three peacocks for food at T Channapura forest range in Nagamangala taluk and fled the spot.

It is reported that fire was spotted at T Channapura forest range around 11.30 pm on July 8 and forest guards Manju and Umesh also heard some noise.

Upon spotting the place, they found a gang of 10 persons in the core forest area and immediately informed about this to their higher officers by telephone.

By the time the officers and the staff reached the spot, all had fled the scene. Skeletons of two peacocks, wings and feathers and skin were found at the spot.

Vessels used for cooking, one country rifle, search light and a Tata Sumo vehicle were recovered.
