A O Smith to expand plant

Water heater manufacturer A O Smith Water Heating India plans expanding its existing India plant by setting up another 150,000 sqft in addition to its existing 76,000 sqft across 20 acre of land in Bangalore. The company will invest about $20 million, taking the total investment on the facility to about $30 million.

The company also launched five new feature-packed water heaters, specially designed for the India market. They are priced between Rs 2,000 and Rs 22,000 for 1 litre and 100 litre, respectively. A O Smith launched an advanced and innovative water heater, ‘Air2Heat’ that generates heat from the environment. The Air2Heat is highly energy-efficient and environment-friendly, consuming only 40 per cent of the electricity as compared to other traditional water heaters. Other products are EWS range (3 litres) water heater with a unique glass-coated heating element, Better (HSE-SBS) and Good (HSE-SAS) line of products and HSE-HNS 2kW heater.
