Minister's plea to Guv to reject bill

Minister for Higher Education C T Ravi has urged the Governor to okay the Bill on regularisation of houses built on the government land. The Bill aimed at helping the poor people and not the land grabbers.

Speaking after offering baagina to Hirekolale kere at Chikmagalur on Wednesday, he said “it is a tragedy that Governor who was in political arena for the last five decades has returned the Bill which aimed at helping the poor.

There is a political conspiracy behind the rejection of the Bill. As election is fast approaching, if the Bill is accepted, then the voters will bless the BJP,”hesaid. He said the Bill will help only the poor. It does not include regularisation of houses built on the forest land, Gomala land.

The State government will convince the Governor on the significance of the Bill, he added.  
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies D N Jeevraj expressed dissatisfaction over the rejection of the Bill.

The Opposition leaders should make their stand clear on the Bill. Jeevraj alleged that the Congress and the JD(S) of following dual policy.

 The State government is opposed to the forcible encroachment of the land.

Funds released

Ravi said that a sum of Rs 4.20 crore has been released for the construction of full fledged laboratory and additional classrooms at IDSG College in Chikmagalur.

A sum of Rs three crore will be utilised for the construction of additional classrooms, Rs 1.20 crore for the construction of laboratory and Rs 25 lakh for the construction of toilets.

Similarly, Rs two crore has been released for Kadur First Grade College, Rs one crore each for degree Colleges of Koppa, Sringeri, Mudigere and Ajjampura, Rs 75 lakh for Birur college, Rs 50 lakh for the construction of additional classrooms at Kalasa College.
