Three arrested for assault on rape victim's father

Srirampura police have arrested three men in connection with the assault on Syed Kareem, father of a minor girl who was raped and later gave birth to a baby recently.

Kareem was attacked brutally on September 2 evening. Afsar alias Charlie, 26, Akram, 28 and Muzamil, 25 all residents of Sriramapura, are the arrested. They, along with another associate, Avez, had hatched a plot to kill Kareem and had brutally assaulted him due to an old rivalry.

According to the police, Kareem had taken a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh from Akram an year ago and was threatening to book false cases against Akram if he demanded his money back. Avez, who was fed up of the harassment meted out to him by Kareem, while working at his shop also joined hands with Akram.

Afsar is the brother of Shakeel, the man charged of raping Kareem’s minor daughter. Both Avez and Afsar were upset with Kareem for he was harassing them for working for Shakeel. They along with Muzamil hatched a conspiracy to kill Kareem and attacked him. However, Kareem survived with grievous injuries. Avez is still at large.

Kareem, in his complaint to the Bangalore City Police Commissioner B G Jyothi Prakash Mirji, alleged that the police had recently withdrawn the security given to him.

He has alleged that the local masjid committee members of the masjid at Ramachandrapuram, were threatening him for moving court against Shakeel for raping his daughter.

Man held for killing aunt

R T Nagar Police have arrested Prasad, 38, a carpenter, for allegedly killing his aunt Eshwaramma, 55, recently. He had allegedly stabbed Eshwaramma to death using a kitchen knife on September 2.

Prasad was arrested on Tuesday night. He had been living near Eshwaramma’s house in 2010 and had recently moved back to his native place in Nellore. In 2010, Prasad’s 12-year-old son Harikrishna had accidentally fallen to death from the second floor while he was playing at Eshwaramma’s house.

This made Prasad blame Eshwaramma for the many problems he faced in life. On the ill-fated day, when Eshwaramma confronted with him some issue, he picked up a  knife and stabbed her to death.

Student loses fee money

An Iranian student has lost about Rs 12.5 lakh in cash, he had kept in his house to pay as admission fee for dental science course, to thieves.

The student, Ali Rozgar, 23, is a resident of HBR Layout. Rozgar had withdrawn the money from his bank account to pay it as admission fee to Rajarajeshwari Dental College.

He could not pay the fee on Tuesday since it was late and kept the money in an almirah and left for his friend’s place.

When he returned home late in the night, he found the main door of his opened. The almirah was also opened and Rozgar found the cash and a video camera missing from it.

Senior citizen killed

A senior citizen crossing the road was mowed down near Makkala Koota on Tuesday night by a speeding tempo. The deceased has been identified as Veerappa, 76, a resident of Chamarajapet.
