KPCC president R V Deshpande, working president D K Shivakumar, MLAs representing Bangalore City and other leaders of the party took part in the hunger protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Road between 11 am and 5 pm.

Deshpande, speaking to press persons, said the Government was not concerned about thousands of people who lost their relatives and dwelling places in the floods.
Referring to the function organised by Karnataka Milk Federation to felicitate Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, Deshpande said the CM was busy in accepting felicitation as hundreds of people died in the floods.

Hunger protest
“The CM is shameless to accept felicitation when the State is facing floods”, he said. He said the Congress would continue its protests against the Government. The taluk units of the party would hold hunger protest on October 12.
Working president D K Shivakumar said the Government had lost senses. Neither it had eyes to see the misery nor ears to listen to the cry of the poor. The chief minister had been interested only in accepting garlands.

The Congress would hold state-wide protests against the Government, he said.
