Elephant attack triggers protest in Hassan

One was killed in recent jumbo trampling at K Hoskote hobli

Workers of various political parties staged a protest blocking the road on Bangalore-Mangalore national highway near Byrapura circle of Alur taluk alleging negligence of government in avoiding attacks of wild jumbos.

Recently a person was killed in the attack at K Hoskote hobli of Naveena halli of the taluk. Cutting across party lines, workers of various political parties participated in the protest under the leadership of MLA H K Kumaraswamy and blocked the road for more than an hour.

They unanimously demanded the government to take appropriate measures against the elephant attacks which has been threat to human lives and also destroying crops.

Addressing the protesters, Kumaraswamy charged the government for not taking action against the elephant attacks which have been destroying crops and claiming lives of innocent people. “Protests would be intensified if measures are not taken.”
Taluk wing Congress president G R Ranganath said that the incidents of elephant attack was not new and existed since many years.

Environmentalist H P Mohan, taluk JD(S) president K S Manjegowda, KPCC member Muniswamy, zilla panchayat member Purushotham and leaders of various political parties participated in the protest.
