I owe no apology to the party: Somnath

 
“I wasn’t wrong in my decision to remain the speaker of Lok Sabha. Therefore, there is no question of seeking anyone’s apology,” Chatterjee told newsmen here. “Neither (West Bengal Chief Minister) Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee nor Subhash Chakraborty had spoken to me about my return to the party ranks,” the erstwhile leader said. 

“I am not looking forward to it and so I will not appeal for anything,” he said, adding that he was not sure of what the CPM would do about the issue of taking him back.

Chatterjee was expelled from the CPM last year after he refused to toe the party line and resign as Speaker ahead of the trust vote in the parliament over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
