Slum dwellers' rally for basic amenities in Mandya

Pressing for basic amenities in their slums and condemning the negligence of the officials related to land act, members of slum dwellers federation took out a mega protest rally in city on Monday.

The protestors who took out the protest march from the private bus stand in city to deputy commissioner’s office demanded action against those who are eyeing the slum land and allegedly creating trouble for the residents.

The agitators demanded steps should be taken for identifying the land for the slum dwellers and title deeds be distributed immediately.

Basic amenities

The members urged the basic amenities like streetlights, underground drains, road and toilet facilities should be provided for the residents.

The stay order against the Tamil Colony should be withdrawn and works related to the construction of the houses should be started soon, they stressed.

Their other demands included all the departments should join hands for the development of Davari community, solve the land problem of Kalappa layout and houses to be constructed, loans on S D Jayaram layout should be waived off, title deed should be distributed to the residents of Gobehalla slum and others.

Karnataka Janashakti district secretary Lakshman Cheeranahalli, Federation president N Nagesh, M Siddaraju and others participated in the protest.
