Last Updated 05 February 2013, 20:41 IST

HCL Infosystems on Tuesday appointed cricketer Unmukt Chand as the brand ambassador for its ‘HCL ME’ tablet range.

“We’re delighted to have Unmukt Chand as our brand ambassador for our ME tablet brand. Like Unmukt, the ME tab brand is young, focussed and raring to go,” HCL Infosystems global head (mobility business unit) Gautam Advani told reporters here.

As a part of the agreement, Chand will endorse HCL Infosystems’ tablets and will feature in upcoming multimedia ad campaigns, he added.

Chand was the captain of India’s Under-19 cricket World Cup, 2012 winning team.

The domestic devices maker also launched three new tablets — U2, V1 and Y3 — priced between Rs 5,999 and Rs 11,999. With the new range of tablets, the company is targeting students as well as young professionals.

As of now the tablets are available in select cities and will be available across the country by February, 2013 onwards.

“The tablet market in India has seen tremendous growth. From 3,50,000 units in 2011 to three million devices last year, the segment is expected to see sales touching six million units this year. The segment is growing at 100 per cent and it’s a great market to be in,” Advani said.
