Special team to nab swindlers

The cheques issued by the firm, which promised interest of 30 pc per annum on the deposits, had  returned dishonoured, recently.
The police initially pegged the quantum of money duped at Rs 15 crore. However, going by the number of complaints, it seems that the money swindled may exceed Rs 20 crore. According to sources, several retired army personnel have invested up to Rs 40 lakh in the firm. Moreover, the possibility of persons from entertainment industry having invested in Tulasiyan World Mart cannot be ruled out, sources said.
There has been an increase in the number of people lured by the prospects of earning high returns in a short period.  Victims started to gather at the JP Nagar police station as soon as the media flashed news about the alleged fraud by this firm.
Joint Commissioner (Crime) Alok Kumar said the police have received complaints and are verifying the details.
Ramesh Tulasiyan and Dinesh Kumar Bansali started the firm two years ago. They lured people to invest in the company by promising interest of 30 pc per annum on the investments.
The cheques issued by the firm returned dishonoured recently and victims, to their shock found the office closed. The flat on Kanakapura Main Road where Ramesh was residing remains locked.
It is also said that Ramesh had failed to disburse salaries to his employees.

Two robbed

Three unidentified persons robbed a person of his valuables in K R Puram on Saturday night. The incident occurred when the victim, Ramesh, a resident of Electronic City was waiting for a bus near Tin Factory to return home. The accused came in a four-wheeler and on the pretext of giving him a drop made him get into the vehicle.
Later, they threatened him with weapons, robbed his two cellphones and jewellery worth Rs 50,000.  He was later thrown out of the vehicle. Ramesh hails from Andhra Pradesh and works as an auditor.
In another incident, two unidentified women robbed a woman of her jewellery worth Rs 1.25 lakh in Basavanagudi police limits.
The incident took place on Puttanna Road when the victim, Sharada, was about to get into her car in front of a hospital. The accused came in a bike, snatched her gold chain and fled, the  police said.
