<p> Just days after the brutal killing of a circle officer in Pratapgarh district, another DSP found himself at the receiving end as he was allegedly assaulted by a Samajwadi Party office- bearer and his goons inside the district court premises in Gorakhpur.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Circle officer of Bansgaon in Gorakhpur district Vijay Shankar Mishra had gone to the court in connection with a case when the city president of the party’s legal wing Amit Shukla and his supporters assaulted him on Wednesday.<br /><br />Shukla and his goons roughed up Mishra, snatched his cap and tore his uniform, according to police officers. They chased him when he ran towards the chamber of a judicial magistrate to save himself. <br /><br />Mishra could be rescued only after senior police officers rushed to the court premises with a large posse of security personnel after they learnt about the incident.<br /><br />Sources said Shukla held a grudge against Mishra after the latter had prevented SP leader from forcibly grabbing a shop in Barhalganj area in the district a few months ago.<br />Police have registered a case against Shukla and nine other lawyer supporters of his. <br />“We are investigating the matter,” said district police chief D K Chaudhary.<br /><br />The lawyers, however, said the police officers misbehaved with them and went on a flash strike demanding action against them. They have threatened to intensify their agitation if the circle officer was not transferred from Bansgaon. They have also lodged a counter FIR in this regard.<br /><br />Earlier also, SP leaders have been accused of assaulting government officials. <br />A few months ago, minister for secondary education Vinod Singh alias Pandit Singh had abducted a senior medical officer in Gonda district after the latter had refused to issue appointment letters to the candidates recommended by the minister.<br /></p>
