Alcoholic man axes mother to death, nabbed

An alcoholic 40-year-old man axed his elderly mother to death on Sunday evening in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawla when she refused to give him money to buy liquor, police said.

Fateh killed his 64-year-old mother Satbati at their house at Ladpur in Kanjhawla in a fit of rage. His mother was retired official and used to get pension. Fateh was unemployed and an alcoholic.

On Sunday evening, he asked his mother for money. When she refused to give him money Fateh started abusing her. In a fit of rage, he took an axe lying in the house and hit her twice on her head.

Hearing screams, his uncle Shiv Kumar rushed to the spot.

Fateh then tried to flee, but was overpowered by his uncle. Satbati was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared bought dead. 

The body has been sent for post-mortem that will be conducted on Monday.

“A case of murder has been registered against Fateh with Kanjhawla police station,” said a senior police officer.

The officer added that the accused has been apprehended.

Police have taken the statement of Kumar and found that Fateh used to live on his mother’s money.
