Investigators continue their raids to get a clue on the whereabouts of the three killers of BSP leader Deepak Bhardwaj who are still at large.

“The identification of killers and conspirator are still not known. Several people have been detained and questioned and later let off in the case but nothing concrete has come up,” said a senior police officer.

The investigators said the getaway vehicle — a metallic grey Skoda Laura car – is yet to be recovered.

“We have zeroed in on around six Skoda Laura cars which have a similar description while the details of owners are still being verified. One car owner has been detained and questioned as he was making contradictory statements,” said the officer.

The investigators said the murder of Bhardwaj is still an open case and there is no substantive clue to trace the conspirators so far.

“The call details of Bhardwaj and all the phone calls made during the incident in the close proximity to the farmhouse are being verified. The location of calls made during this period can prove to be a vital cornerstone in the progress of investigation,” said the officer.

Family role

The police on Friday too did not rule out the involvement of family members in the murder.

“No one has been given clean chit and we are yet to question the victim’s estranged sons Hitesh and Nitesh, both divorced,” said the officer, adding that a few businessmen have also been called in for questioning.

On Tuesday morning, Bhardwaj was gunned down at his farmhouse in south Delhi’s Rajokri by three armed assailants who entered the farmhouse on the pretext of booking it for a marriage ceremony, pumped three bullets in Bhardwaj and fled away brandishing pistols in front of security guards and staff from the farmhouse.

Two of them got out and fired at him while the third one remained in the car. Investigators have the closed circuit television camera footage of gate number 2.

The footage clearly shows two suspects brandishing guns near the gate, while the car was being driven by a third person. They escaped despite the presence of 30 to 40 guards inside the farmhouse.

Bhardwaj was rushed to the Army Research and Referral Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
