JOIN USPraveen (27), a resident of Pipe Line Road in Malleswaram and a milk vendor, was hacked to death when he had come to a marriage hall to attend the wedding of his friend’s sister. At around 11.30 pm, Praveen Kumar came out of Lakshmi Venkateshwar Kalyana Mantapa in HBR Layout, when a gang of around six persons attacked him with lethal weapons and hacked him. The miscreants, who had come in a car attacked Praveen’s friend, Santosh, who came to his rescue.
Police said that Praveen was involved in petty quarrels and suspected that an old rivalry could be the reason for the murder. In a complaint, Praveen’s brother Prashanth, has mentioned names of the accused and other details, added the police.
As many as five murders have taken place in one week in KR Puram sub-division. The murders have created a sense of insecurity among residents here. On Tuesday, a husband, wife and their daughter were done to death at their residence in Ramamurthynagar. An eight-year-old boy was smothered to death on Devasandra Main
Road as well.
Man hacks brother
Property dispute between two siblings took an ugly turn when a man bludgeoned his younger brother to death with an iron rod on Saturday night at Annapurneshwarinagar in Jnanabharathi police limits.
Police arrested Ramesh for killing his brother Satish (35), a tailor by profession.
Police said Ramesh had three brothers and the ancestral property was divided between them. After the division, two of Ramesh’s brothers were living in separate houses, while Ramesh and Satish were sharing the same house.
Ramesh was upset as he was under the impression that Satish had managed to get a major share in the house. The matter was discussed with some elders and the brothers arrived at a compromise, according to which Satish was to pay Rs 15,000 to Ramesh. However, Satish had delayed the payment resulting in disputes between the duo, said the police.
On Saturday night, Ramesh met Satish to remind him about the payment of the money, but the latter expressed his inability to pay immediately. In a fit of anger, Ramesh took out an iron rod and hit Satish’s head.
