Hundreds of pre-university lecturers recruited a year ago staged a demonstration in front of Legislators’ Home on Wednesday demanding that the State government issue appointment orders to them.
About 1,764 lecturers who were recruited last year are yet to receive their appointment orders. It is said the delay in transfer of senior lecturers has upset the recruitment schedule.
The protesters said the counselling for their recruitment was done in May 2012 and they were assured of appointment orders by June 4, 2013. However, they have not got any intimation till date.
File in minister’s office
“We suspect the delay has happened at the Pre University Department. Every time we go there, the officials give us different answers. We now found out that the file was actually in the minister's office and nobody had seen it,” said one lecturer requesting anonymity.
Another recruited candidate added that the officials were scurrying for files in the last minute.
“We were shocked. They did not even know where the files were. They were searching for it even as waited to confirm our appointment.”
‘Speed up process’
The lecturers later met Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakar and requested him to speed up the process.
They were worried that the PU classes had already begun and that if their appointment was delayed and they would be blamed for any delay in completing the syllabus. The protesters were promised that they would get their confirmation dates by Thursday.
