Recruitment of surveyors to begin soon: Minister

Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad on Monday said orders to recruit 1,834 surveyors would be issued shortly.

Replying to a query by Rajiv P (BSRC), he said he was aware that aspirants for the surveyors’ post were staging a dharna at the Freedom Park in Bangalore demanding employment. The Karnataka Examination Authority had conducted the examination and there were complaints of question paper leak.

Selection of as many as 130 candidates was set aside on the ground that they did not have training in recognised institutions. But the government will consider them, too, while making the appointments, he said.

The minister said even licensed surveyors were agitating seeking better remuneration and job security. The government will considerably increase the remuneration and ensure they get at least Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 a month.

“Now, for an acre or 10 acres, the fee for survey is the same. We need to look into this aspect so that licensed surveyors get better payment,” he said.
